Week
2: Introduction to the Internet and issues in Media and Technology.
The task is to write a Reflection on Week 2
The Challenges I faced while completing the task are:
1.Finding examples for some of the definition.
I overcame the challenges by the following:
Instead of getting images for the some of the words I just added the definitions of the words .
I learnt how to create a signature in email .This would benefit me in sending email in a netiquette way.
I will use signature in email to send messages to contact my students parents appropriately.
The
class was seating in a Shape or Horse shoe seating. The teacher grouped us starting
from 1-5 with a giving assignment with markers and two pieces of manila paper.
The members of each group sat together in a group seating. The task was to make
5 rules for technology class the members had to brain storm as a group to come
up with 5 classroom rules in Technology. The group presented their complete
assignment using a draft poster.
I learnt the different types of class settings. The class went back in a Shape or Horse shoe setting and regular lessons begun.
Steps in creating Class Rules:
- State Positive Rules.
- Use only 3-4 rules for Primary School Students.
- Write Rules to cover specific behaviour.
- Make the rules specific for the Environment.
- Involve students in the Class Rules.
Mrs.
Marshal did a scenario demonstrating Etiquette. Etiquette is polite ways and behaviour
that is acceptable in society. I knew the word and meaning for Etiquette. The
term Netiquette is new word to me with means the ways that is acceptable in
communicating on the internet. I also learn the terms for Network and Internet.
We went on to Rules of sending .
Rules of Sending a Email :
- Address using a greeting.
- End email with a closure .
- Use proper Punctuation, Grammar, Spelling.
- Make sure the content is appropriate for the subject.
- Style in Font & Size in Font Size.
- Re-read your email before sending.
- Acknowledge that you have receive an email address.
- Watch you tone of voice, such as Capitalization, All Caps & Bold.
- Signature.
- Have a Appropriate email address.
Steps in adding Signature to your Email:
- Sign-in in Gmail account.
- Go to settings .
- Scroll down, until you see settings.
- Select Signature.
- Type in your Signature.
- Click Save.
Digital Native are individuals that are born during the age that technology has develop so they are familiar with computers and internet. Digital Immigrant are individual that are born in the days that technology wasn't available so they are not familiar with technology.
Persons has to state
whether there are Digital Nature or Digital Immigrant. I am
between both native and immigrants I know how to do certain things
and I also don’t know how to do certain things. Digital Native can operate a
computer fully and a digital Immigrant are persons who do not know anything
about computer and not interested about technology.
Synchronous Vs Asynchronous
Synchronous Communication is conversation that occurs at the same time.
Examples of Synchronous :
Asynchronous Communication - conversation that's not occurring at the same time.
Open Education Resources (OER) is then use of text and media for teaching, learning and for individuals to do research.
Fair Use - is the permits used of copying with permission from the copyright holders.
Viruses - is a program that cause harmful activity on computers and it tries to spread it way to other computers .
Malware are software on computer that are designed to damage computer systems.
Antivirus - are designed programme use to detect and destroy viruses such as (Worms, Trojans, Malware etc. ) on computers.
Google Search is a Google web search that is developed by google .
Advanced Search is a full search of the entire dictionary text helps to narrow down your search .
Book marking - is the record or marking of a website or file etc. so that it can be access quick in the future.
Steps in Bookmarking:
- Go on the website or page you'll like to bookmark.
- Click the star button on the side of the address book name your book mark.
- Modify the address .
- Organize the bookmark.
Steps in Setting Up Common License:
- Click, Share your work.
- Click, Get Started.
- Fill out File Information.
- Copy and Share on Microsoft word.
Conclusion: In the second week of Technology class I learnt about ways to send appropriate message thru emails and about software such as Virus that would damage computer system. I found a easy way to save important websites using book marking so that I can easily find them when I am ready to use information in my class lesson.
